  Hi,
  I (unfortunately) own a BMW X6 e71 vin LL80518. My 10 year son has a rare bone marrow disorder and he recently went through a bone marrow transplant at the royal children's hospital. We were driving back home after his check up at royal children's hospital. I was on Monash freeway and doing around 100km/hour when all of a sudden there was a huge explosion from under the car and I completely lost control of the car. Luckily i somehow managed to stop the car without hitting anything. I had a look under the car and there were metal pieces and some liquid pouring out from the bottom.
  My wife had to come to pick us up and I had to get the car towed to mechanic. The mechanic informed me that the drive shaft had broken and it has damaged the transmission as well. I understand cars breakdown but not like this. I have never been so scared of driving, it was like literally like an explosion with sparks coming from under the car. Instead of "ultimate driving machines" they should be labeled "ultimate killing machines".
  Upon research I found out that this is not an isolated incident and there's some sort of recall/extended warranty on these faulty drive shafts. I m extremely disappointed with BMW. I rather drive a Toyota Corolla, my wife will never let me or my son sit in the x6 again. I will be selling the X6 and going back to my previous Landcruiser 200 which was like tank. Although I love driving the X6 but safety is paramount and no body would jeopardise safety over mere driving pleasure.
